Volunteering at FPCGV
Members and friends of First Presbyterian Church have a number of opportunities to serve. Check out our opportunities and fill out the sign-up form so that you can be contacted by a church leader.
ONGOING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Prior to worship, Greeters share a friendly smile and a handshake to welcome visitors and members alike as they enter the sanctuary for Sunday worship service. They also assist the ushers with the offering plates.
At the conclusion of each worship service, Visitors' Table volunteers stand by the table to provide visitors with printed literature, answer questions, determine their needs and help them find places: i.e. the nursery, Sunday School classes, restrooms, Perking Lot. For more information, contact Ashley Hood
Ushers will hand out bulletins, collect the offering with the greeters and assist Lead Usher/s with straightening up the Sanctuary after each service.
Lead Ushers are responsible for the needs of the Worship Service. They aid ushers and greeters with their procedures; take a head count and record in the notebook; place offering in the safe; collect attendance sheets; and oversee clean up of the Sanctuary.
The FPCGV Fellowship Ministry and Deacons, need your help to host various fellowship event, such as our weekly coffee bar time. If you are willing and able please sign-up here! Note in the comment box if you need training, and a deacon or fellowship ministry member will make sure you get trained.
Youth Connections Volunteers
Parents, grandparents, sponsors and friends are needed to help with FPCGV Youth Connections functions. Could be as simple, like making a meal for hungry teenagers or driving participants to events. Then there are opportunities that are more involved, like chaperoneing a weekend retreat or accompanying a mission trip! (must pass a background check and attend a child protection class offered by the Christian Education ministry)
Congregational Care: Casseroles
Our Congregational Care Ministry stocks an ever-ready supply of casseroles that can be accessed and given in times of need. This can be a meal for a grieving family, persons returning from a hospital stay, potential new members or any situation where an easily prepared meal is a tangible support.
Camera, Action! Operate the cameras during worship, providing the feed for our live stream on Facebook Live. We'll provide all the training you need. You choose the worship service you can support. High School age and older!
Volunteers assist with cleaning and washing element trays in the sacristy. For more information, contact Ashley Hood.
