Rick Walsh, our Director of Music, is a Dallas native. After receiving his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas, he met his future wife, Dee, at Northway Christian Church in Dallas, where he had been a long-time member. He played jazz with the trio Les Amis prior to graduate studies in choral conducting at the University of Colorado at Boulder (where he eventually earned no music degree but rather a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science). He has served as the Music Director at College Hills Christian Church in San Angelo and Village Presbyterian Church in Tampa, Florida and as the Interim Choir Director at First United Methodist Church in Hurst. Prior to his call to Music Director here at First Presbyterian, Rick was the Director of the adult handbell choir and also formed Canticum Novum, a small choral group. Several of Rick's numerous musical compositions for choirs, organ, handbells, and other instruments have been presented in worship, including the cantata Call to Remembrance, commissioned to commemorate First Presbyterian Grapevine's 50th Anniversary, and Seeking, Celebrating, Serving, a triptych written for the dedication of the new sanctuary. In daytime hours during the week, Rick is the Manager of the Network Architecture group at Verizon Data Services. Rick enjoys life in Grapevine or wherever he may be with Dee and their two perfect children. |

In Arizona, she instructed early childhood music classes, children's choirs, voice lessons, class piano and served as Music Director at a Presbyterian church in Tucson.
