Special Days

Home Visits – During the month of August, our teachers schedule an optional 5-10 minute home visit for each child enrolled in their class. Our goal is to have every child receive a special welcome from his/her teacher and to have that comfortable feeling of knowing one familiar face on the first day of school.

Get Acquainted Days – Our teachers schedule a special time for your child to visit his/her classroom before the start of the school year. An invitation will be given to your child during his/her home visit.

Holidays – School parties will be held celebrating Fall Festival, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter. Individual class sign-up sheets will be available for parents to volunteer with one or more of these parties.

Parent Night – This evening is especially planned for parents to acquaint themselves with our preschool. Part of the evening is spent with the child’s teacher in the classroom learning about curriculum and daily routine. During the other part of the evening, parents are treated to a special movie featuring currently enrolled students of the preschool. Parents will see photographs and video footage of their child in the classroom, on the playground, during extra-curricular classes and on special days. It is a great way to learn about, to experience and to see your child participating in the wonderful activities at First Presbyterian Preschool of Grapevine.

Country Critters/Pumpkin Patch – The children enjoy visiting Country Critters, the mobile country barn equipped with farm animals. They will also get to “travel” to their very own small pumpkin patch right in the comfort of our little preschool playground. Festivities for the day include pony rides, animal petting, pumpkin picking, story time, a fall craft and a special snack.

Polar Express – All aboard the Polar Express! Fellowship Hall is transformed into a wonderful winter wonderland. Children rotate through fantastically decorated rooms and engage in activities including a magical train ride on the Polar Express, a visit to the North Pole to see Santa and a trip to the reindeer room to play reindeer games. Hot cocoa and Christmas cookies top off the morning event.

Dad’s Day - On a Saturday morning in winter, Dad, Grandpa or a special family member or friend is invited to join us at the preschool with his/her child for a special day of fun activities.  The day is centered around a particular theme that changes each year.  Refreshments are served!

Spring Music Program – Our Spring Music Program is designed for the children to showcase the wonderful things they have learned in our music program throughout the year. We welcome parents and family members to attend.

Graduation – A graduation ceremony is held during the last week of school for the 4 Year Old Pre-K classes.

Park Day – We wrap up the school year in May with a get together at a local park. This gives everyone one last time to visit before summer begins.
