Worship and Music
Worship at First Presbyterian Church follows the liturgical calendar, the pathway
that leads from Advent and Christmas through Lent to Easter and Pentecost. The Worship
and Music Ministry is responsible for assisting with worship each Sunday as well
as with special services during the church year.
Just a few examples of how you can participate in the work of this ministry:
- being an usher or lead usher
- working as a sound technician
- decorating the sanctuary for Advent
- helping with special services
- serving Communion if you are a current or former
Elder or Deacon
- becoming a member of the Worship and Music Ministry
Our choirs and instrumental ensembles provide a range of opportunities for all ages,
leading us in hymns traditional and contemporary and presenting special music in
diverse styles ranging from classical to jazz to gospel to spirituals.
Opportunities to serve in the music ministry:
- Sanctuary Choir
- Men's Chorus
- Youth Choir

Special services such as the Festival of Lessons & Carols during Advent, the Maunday
Thursday Service, and the Good Friday Tenebrae Service offer unique mixtures of
scripture and music to enhance our annual walk with Christ. The Worship and Music
Ministry helps make our special services and regular worship services the welcoming,
meaningful times of celebration, prayer, and learning that are uniquely First Presbyterian
Church.
