Rahab's Rope
RAHAB’S ROPE is a Christian center that provides protection and education for abused
girls and women in Bangalore & Goa India. We hope to open a new location in Mumbai
in 2011. Our centers are a place where the whole person is ministered to spiritually,
physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and financially. It is a place of hope
to transform their lives through the love of Jesus Christ in Action. This transformation
is a process of rescue, rehabilitation, restoration and re-entry.
THE VISION and MISSION OF RAHAB’S ROPE is to see lives transformed by God’s love
in action, to reveal His love in a way they can see, to understand and respond to
in faith. Rahab’s Rope offers a safe haven for these outcasts and compassionate
care in the form of shelter, food, clothing, medical treatment, therapy, vocational,
micro-enterprise training and Bible teaching. We help these women rebuild their
lives by providing financial and vocational skills, job placement and funding for
micro-business start-ups in preparation to re-enter their communities. Our motto,
“Love in Action,” shows the power of Jesus’ love to transform lives.
Although every story is heart-breaking, no two women entering Rahab’s Rope have
the same one. Some were sold into sexual slavery as early as nine years old never
having attended school. Others have had some schooling, but need more marketable
skills to be gainfully employed. Rahab’s Rope’s literacy and math proficiency courses
mean that one woman can read a sign or a newspaper for the first time; for another
it means getting her high school equivalency certificate. Math skills translate
into knowing how to price a product for profit, necessary skills in the workforce.
In the past six plus years we have worked with over 10,000 women on the streets,
have had over 1,800 women come through the center for various trainings and discipleship.
Much of Rahab’s Rope’s resources are used to satisfy basic health needs, and to
provide trained ministerial staff. The focus for the remainder of our funds goes
toward vocational training materials, and transportation costs to bring their products
to market.
The goal of Rahab’s Rope is that every women become completely self sufficient.
We encourage leadership within the center. As our women complete vocational training,
they share their skill base and ‘give back’ to others. They also share their faith
acting as a beacon of Christ transforming love and grace.
